Review me, please.

Amazon.com has started a fancy food shop-- interesting eh?

I wish I could find a reliable recipe review website. Lately, I've been thinking about making cream of broccoli soup, but I've found a gazillion different recipes on the web.

Its so annoying putting the time and effort into cooking something and then finding out the recipe is just plain bad. Or too difficult or too something.

I made the zucchini pancakes from the book The New Cook, by Donna Hay. They came out bland and uninspired. Maybe it was my cooking, maybe it was the recipe.

I mean, you can always find random recipes, but... how do you know it will even be any good? Sometimes you want to try a recipe from Martha or some cookbook, but its a mystery whether some adjustments are required (say using one fewer egg) or additions to be made to improve the taste.

I do like allrecipes.com, since they have many, many recipes with tons of reviews. (Hello, I just pulled a fabulous recipe for bread pudding off the site yesteryday.) I am glad people give me advice such as add less cheese or add more tomatoes. But, I feel that the recipes on the site are a bit too simple and require a bit too much use of processed foods (i.e. canned cream soup or something like that). I mean, they are easy. But...

Can someone tell me what they thought of the crossiant bread pudding from Ina Garten's book? Or about the recipe for black miso cod from Nobu's book [before I have the opportunity to waste money on cod and miso]? Or that the recipe for wild mushroom risotto from Bourdain is divine?

Take me to recipe review central!

Maybe this is what America's Test Kitchen is for.
